I can honestly admit that there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about blogging. I think what I miss the most, is the fact that without blogging, I can't go back and read past posts. I can't go back to a certain time and reflect on what I may have been feeling or thinking or experiencing. In many ways, this blog has been my memory, my calendar if you will. When I need to think back to a time or event, I know in my mind that I can search for something on my blog and it is a perfect reference.
Unfortunately, this year will forever be a blur. I won't have this blog as a reference point to fill in the gaps, since I didn't take the time to actually type anything. As I quickly approach the big 4-0, I find that my memory isn't what I used to think it was. I would love to say that it isn't what I remember it being, but even now I wonder what I remember!
I don't blog for anyone else. I used to have a few friends that would read my blog to catch up on my latest issues. I think for the most part they have all given up even checking anymore. I did receive a text out of the blue tonight from RUR saying that he can no longer "stalk" me via my blog and wondered how I have been. So maybe with his contact and my inability to sleep, I thought I would blog.

Blogging Hiatus
I was reminded this morning how I haven't been blogging. Of course this is something that I am more than well aware. I'm struggling with what to blog and not blog about. There are many things going on, but many things that are probably left best not shared. I knew that my blogging had the potential to offend or hurt others, in an unintentional way. Afterall, it's my journal of my thoughts and I type sometimes quicker than I think.
I can't blog about work. Who knows who may come across it and what ramifications if any there may be. There are huge changes in our office, many that will affect me personally, others not so much directly. It will be interesting to see how things matriculate and if I'll find myself with new and different responsibilities that will fill a void that I've been missing at work for a while now, interest and work.
I question whether or not I should blog about relationships. It's a tough call and I'm clearly no expert in the relationship categories. I find many stories amusing but wonder how others will read them and respond. Maybe what I found entertaining isn't so much to others.
My girl friends tell me to blog. They miss reading what may or may not be happening. Afterall, maybe with my blog, I'll spend less time on the phone and therefore make my son happier! In addition, I actually enjoy blogging. It's an emotional release that I haven't been able to find anywhere else. It's about the equivalent of projectile vomiting (pre-dry heaves) when you are more than intoxicated and you feel so much better after you get sick.
Yeah, blogging is kind of like that...wrapping my arms around the porcelain god praying for it to get better and when I'm done and I rinse my mouth and push back the moistened hair from my damp brow, I actually do feel like I've accomplished something and feel better. A little bit of heaven after intense hell...

Blog Interest & Followers
What draws an interest to read a blog? What brings you to my blog? Is there a specific interest or a special search?
I was first introduced to blogspot and blogging from a longtime school friend that had been blogging for years. It was months of reading her blog before I decided to write my own.
There are a few random blogs that I will occasionally go back and look at in addition to several friends that blog. I came across random blogs usually from a recommendation by “blogs of note” and then links on those blogs. Most of the blogs I read only post a few times a month, at best. My girlfriend typically blogs regularly except when life takes hold and she misses a few days. I usually check back frequently to see when she has posted next.
Most often, readers won’t make comments on blogs. Some readers are random and will come back, others are friends and family. The random readers usually dissipate quickly finding boredom in the blog after it met a specific need or interest. Others are brought to my blog by Google searches for specific criteria looking for the perfect resource or answer.
It seems that since I’ve been posting about my recent vacation, I seem to have attracted one specific, very intense follower. I have an idea of who the follower may be; however, I’m not positive. Clearly with as many times as this person has returned to my blog, despite my hiatus’ for a few days, it would appear that they are seeking something specific or have some ulterior motive. Even I don’t find myself that entertaining! So, if this person would kindly enlighten me as to your interest in my blog and your need to check it more than a handful of times a day when no new postings have been made, I’d appreciate it.
Otherwise, happy reading!

Mr. Date & The Blog
So last night I finally came out and told Mr. Date about the blog. I had skimmed around it a few times trying not to come right out and announce that I blog. I was told that I could privatize my blog and only select few could read it, but the reality is only a few of my close friends read it on a regular basis anyway.
But, the thought that a guy that I'm dating would have access to my inner thoughts and feelings suddenly made me feel very vulnerable. I've been pretty open with him. Maybe it scares me more to know that he'll then know what a fruit loop I truly am and read about my "issues" well before he ever met me! Then what would he think? What if my blogging offends him somehow, when they are just my random thoughts and feelings at the moment that I decide to sit in front of the keyboard. What if?
The reality is, what if nothing. I don't have anything to hide. This blog is out there for anyone to come across and if he looked, there it would be. So I gave him the link. I didn't give it to ex-bf even when he asked. But for some reason, I found myself wanting him to know about it. Knowing that if he was confused or needed insight into me, he could find it. I would prefer he ask and I don't ever want him to worry about something he reads and not question or address it with me. He said he's not sure that he wants to look at it. At this point, I'm ok with whatever. I threw it out there, I let the truth be known.
And as Jack would say, "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!" But I think he can and he does.

Honesty & Blog
I'm sitting here at my computer with a million different thoughts racing through my mind. None of which I think I'll blog about. It may seem that I blog about everything, in reality I really don't. I know that there are friends that read this blog to gain insight into my world and happenings, or truly lack thereof. Mostly though, there aren't too many secrets with me. With me, you get what you get.
I would have to say that I'm an honest person. I truly don't lie well. I can even try to be evasive and that doesn't go well either. Poker clearly isn't my game. I'm almost too honest. Too blunt. Too direct. If you don't want to know, don't ask. And well, even if you don't ask, maybe I'll still tell you. Maybe not.
Like this morning, JA didn't like that I sided with her husband about not driving his motorcycle to work today. I wasn't siding with him, just pointing out the obvious. Not that I thought she was wrong, just stating my point of view which was the same as her husband, coincidentally. Maybe if I was a better friend, I should have said what she wanted to hear and to support her. I'm not that kind of friend.
Tonight I received a phone call from another friend (A). I felt like I was caught in the middle. I was questioned if I talked with another friend (B) (is this seeming schoolish?) about an issue. I hadn't talked to that other friend(B), which then apparently led to another issue as to WHY I hadn't talked to that friend (B). Following this? I added letters to help clarify. Apparently (B) is upset that I haven't talked with her, which there is no reason why I haven't, I just haven't. Sometimes, I just don't talk to people. Not because I'm being anti-social, I'm just not really all that social. Especially when it comes to my free time, it doesn't usually coincide with my friends availability either. I learned how (B) found out about (A) and why (A) would think I was involved, which clearly I wasn't. Wow...this is giving me a headache. So I found myself doing damage control for something that I was entirely not involved with! I was guilty for not getting in touch with (B) but that wasn't out of the ordinary for our relationship anyway.
Regardless, what it all seems to boil down to is...what I read a few weeks back in some article, be careful what you blog/write. You never know when it might come back.

Blog Spacing Issues
This blog is driving me CRAZY!!! No matter how I seem to space this blog or align my pictures, no matter how many times I preview it, IT DOESN'T LOOK RIGHT WHEN I POST!
If it were April Fool's Day, I could understand that someone wanted to mess with my A Personality, perfectionistic traits, but it's not! I HATE when you think you did something one way, to find out that it isn't! The last blog, I seriously put three hard returns between each paragraph and then finally gave up! Figured anymore and then they would take and it would be spaced out for two pages!
This is the first time I've truly had paragraph spacing issues. Usually it's in the layout of the pictures. I need to stop trying to align them, since they have a mind of their own as well.
Ok...moving on...

Technologically Challenged
It is true...at times I feel as if I am completely and utterly technologically challenged. I would say that I am, but maybe that is a slight exaggeration since I truly do know many people that are! Maybe I just fail to embrace the world of gidgets and gadgets. Although at times, I do try.
For starters, I have a cell phone. I've had one for many years now and I know how to use it! Unlike my stepfather, we still haven't convinced him how to use his on a regular basis. He finds it too small, difficult to understand and completely ineffective. Give him an old car or radio - he's in heaven! I have all the "basics" of technology - no frills! I use a planner/calendar rather than a palm pilot or a blackberry. If I had to point either of them out, I wouldn't. I would look for the little black fruit and a miniature person who flies planes. I don't have an IPOD or MP3 player and I couldn't tell you how to use one. I considered getting one, but it just seemed to complicated and not something I would use. Now my son has an MP3 player, but I still don't understand it. I'm perfectly OK with the radio or even an occasional CD. I don't have a laptop computer, internet access on my phone - I did just upgrade to high speed internet because I couldn't stand how long it took to upload a photo! My parents gave me their digital camera last year - since I asked if I could have it to try it out. I quite like the surprise of film - the thrill and excitement of picking up your newly developed pictures from 6 months ago and wondering who and what it is that you are actually looking at! Digital just takes the fun out of that! ;) I had the camera for 6 months before I learned that I needed a memory card and batteries! I think I'm managing it OK - I can turn it on and take a picture that isn't blurry about...40% of the time. It just seems like things get more complicated in life, not less. And if by 2010 tv's need to be hi-def I guess I'm in trouble! Good thing I just purchased my first portable DVD player - hopefully it will still work by then!
I get overwhelmed by how thick manuals are to read anything. Oh and don't even get me started on assembly directions! By the time I decide I should read directional novels I learn that really only 10 pages, if that, are in English - none of which I understand anyway!
So now I have entered the world of blog. A new and terrifying environment, ok not so much, but don't look for more than basic. I managed to successfully post a blog. Kudos to me :) I think it was more an issue of taking the time to just do it and create a blog site. And a little encouragement from family and a fellow blogger/classmate/friend :) She just created a wonderful blog about me introducing me to blogging - yes, I became all emotional - and even had a link to my blog. Oh my...yeah, I'm sure I will be blogging for a decade before I learn that! She also sent me some links and told me how easy they were to add to my blog. She must seriously think I'm less technically challenged then I am!

Independence
I think in my few posts and descriptions, it should be pretty clear that this blog isn't about being an independent party of a political matter. You will probably never see a blog about politics, unless of course you want me to write about the mistress' of politicians - which I don't have enough time, energy or desire to devote.
My blog name comes from not only am I an independent person, but I have issues. And LOTS of them. I couldn't tell you how many times a day I say, "Dude, I have issues!" So imagine Randy Jackson, work with me here, a Caucasian, brunette, smaller in stature - and replace the "Yo, Dawg, What's Up?" with "Dude, I have issues!" Are you feeling it? Well, that's ME :)
Today was a pretty somber day, for no real apparent reason. I kept pretty low key at work and flew under the radar - which seriously threw several off kilter since I'm not usually the one in the background trying to hide. I'm there to do a job and find defects and make people make things happen. Ok, so in 3.5 months I haven't been successful at it - but I'm not entirely ready to roll over and accept the unacceptable yet either. Tomorrow's a new day :)

First Blog
I'm not sure how many times I've truly thought about creating this blog. And all of the quirky, fascinating, truly mind-boggling, or not so mind-boggling, thought provoking messages I would post. Of course, now that I actually sit down to type, I feel void of anything worthy of sharing or meaningful for a first post. And with that, I post my first of many meaningless posts so that I can jump in with both feet and swim or at least attempt the dog paddle!
